My Hiatus Is Over and That’s Good for YOU!

Almost a year ago, I ran a New Client Special and gained several new clients in a matter of hours. That was an INCREDIBLE day and feeling! There was no sales page, but a wonderful client posted about it on Facebook, and people got an idea of how I could best assist them from

A lot has transpired and changed in the past year. I have been on hiatus while life as I knew it in Daytona Beach came to an end, and I reluctantly found myself back in Atlanta. There’s a testimony I’d love to share about it all, but instead, I want to share what I’ve been up to offline, and the reason WHY I’m offering this New Client Special again.

A week after returning to Atlanta, I was offered a job at a small downtown law firm.  But after 30 days of being offline for 12-14 hours every day, I gave that job back, and decided to drive for Uber instead! You can read those details here.

Who knew I would actually enjoy driving around in Atlanta’s notorious traffic to give rides to strangers? Especially since I had been resisting coming back to Atlanta for over 6 months BECAUSE of the traffic!

I’m so grateful, however, that God’s Blessings (the name of my car), has provided the means for me to semi-climb out of the financial disaster that was my life this time last year.

Since August, I’ve driven over 35,000 miles, easily met and driven over 1,500 people, and currently have 800 5-star ratings. But I’m not trying to kill my car! Besides, I REALLY miss working online as I had been doing for the past 10 years.

To help with increasing my income while simultaneously trying to reduce my driving time, I applied for a few work at home positions that I thought could provide predictable pay. One company was particularly attractive until I discovered that their clients would be in control of the time of day that I work, and that simply is NOT going to work for me.

And this past weekend, I call myself starting a bartending gig at a local establishment. Friday night, I was SO tired and cold when I left, I couldn’t even make myself Uber the St. Patrick’s Day drunk crowd!

Saturday was spent in bed, in pain, with a cold. 🙁 Needless to say, I didn’t go back for my second night on Sunday. Instead I chose to drive to make up for time missed Friday night and Saturday. Confirmation that I made the right decision was earning more in 1-1/2 hours on Sunday than the 7-1/2 hours I donated to that local establishment on Friday!

When I ponder where I was in my life this time last year, compared to where I am now, I AM THANKFUL. He’s making ways out of no way, and I am reminded of the miracles I experienced last year. One of them was the overwhelming response to my New Client Special.

Now that my hiatus is over, I want to get back to helping people who need what I offer online. Below are portions of the email sent last year:

“If you are in need of some virtual assistance help, this is the week to get it – at a “Try It Before You Buy It” discounted rate.

Here are a few of the projects I have been working on for clients:

There is no sales page for this, so if you have questions, go ahead and email me now.

Obviously, there has to be a limit – because my time is limited like yours. I can only offer this to the first 5 people who send $97 to my special PayPal link. When I see your order come in, I will email you right away and we can get started.
. . .
Now is the time to get those projects out of the way, off your plate, and DONE. I can help. But you’ve got to act now because this special offer goes away soon.

I’m looking forward to working with you!

Re-Emergence, Re-Invention, Restructuring and Redesign

It’s been ages since I’ve written a blog post and I must state at the onset, this entry has NOTHING to do with what this website was originally created to be about.

Although I rarely update this site and need to do a better job of that, today I decided to write about a few of the life-altering events in my world that have occurred in the past year:

  • Loss of a beloved client of 7 years in mid-September (due to his taking a position with a well-known online company to lay the foundation for his marriage last October);
  • Referred to a highly organized and efficient new client in November (who has taught me how to work in Infusionsoft);
  • Development of my own product during Christmas due to successful implementation of another client’s promotion (but technological issues deflated my initial excitement about launching it, and stalled further activity); and
  • Loss of another long-term client at the end of April, two weeks before my Mom died.

My Mom’s passing on May 9, 2015, a week after her 80th birthday on May 2, was surreal when I think back on it. For me, it wasn’t as unexpected as it could have been. And I’m SO thankful she heard me in January when I said “I hope I see you when I come back in March, and I REALLY want to see you when you turn 80”. I believe she waited for me, and I’ll be eternally grateful that God saw fit for me to be there with her in Georgia instead of here in Florida.

Why did I share all of this? Because think it’s important to be transparent.  And lately, I’ve just been MIA and thought it time to open up a bit.

Since my cocoon of a world has imploded, it’s become necessary for me to put myself “out there”. And since May, I’ve kinda been in a fog because I didn’t know how to live in a world without Mom. I guess I’ve been in pause mode, or on hiatus. I asked for strength and was graced with the peace that passes all understanding. So I decided to just take each moment as it came and refused to do anything that was going to cause me stress. That included trying to find replacement income.

You see, since 2007, I have NEVER had to seek out new clients. All of my clients have been by referral. And that’s the cocoon I realized I had been living in when my dear client called a little more than a year ago to let me know he was taking a position and semi-retiring his online business. It was a few days later when I had a complete crying melt-down because I realized I had done absolutely NOTHING to mitigate or prepare for the loss of my weekly income.

Well, now that all of my Mom’s affairs have been taken care of, I believe I can pay attention better and push myself to keep moving forward. That means my time off is over, and I am actively seeking new clients who need the quality technical virtual assistance I provide. That means starting over in my ‘business’ with a clearer definition of what it is I do and have to offer.

Twelve years ago, after losing my last full-time ‘permanent’ job, I wasn’t looking to start a business. I was looking to make some money online. And I’ve realized those are two entirely different things!  I remember searching the Internet for hours, daily, for months, which became years, before I finally found an opportunity to earn an income from online work. That opportunity led me to the client who basically taught me pretty much everything I’ve learned in the Internet Marketing space since 2007. And because of him, nearly every client I’ve worked with has been a referral.

The somber reality that I finally had to face, which actually didn’t dawn on me until a year ago, is that I never set out to build a business. That means I have had to seriously look at what I have been doing online, and figure out how to move forward in a manner that better supports what I enjoy doing; what I bring to the table; and the value of my expertise.

In preparation for “getting back into the game”, I am feeling accomplished for tackling the following a few days ago:

  • Backed up ExpertHelpDeskSupport and NetMarketingForNewbies sites;
  • Updated 10 sites to WordPress 4.3.1;
  • Updated all WordPress plugins, including InstaBuilder 2.0 on 4 domains;
  • Purchased, installed and configured InstaMember on my first EDHS site (to replace my non-use of DAP);
  • Created an Excel spreadsheet for all my DAP products for conversion to InstaMember

And now that I’ve also integrated, the bonus, InstaTheme (Lite version) with InstaMember, I’m in the process of redesigning the look of my first membership site created with DAP while learning it.  Unfortunately, that site has been languishing for five years; it was past time to do something about it.

So as I make progress on the ExpertHelpDeskSupport membership site, I’ll posts updates here.

By the way, if you know anyone who could benefit from my skill set and expertise, please know that I’d welcome any referrals you care to make while I learn how to market myself and my business better.  🙂
